26th May 2:30pm Art Exhibition Launch
Ballarat Library - From Sorry to Action
A Celebration of First Nations Culture and Creativity.
A selection of artists from Perridak Arts on two art walls and two exhibition cases at the Ballarat Library to acknowledge Sorry Day 2026 until June 1st through National Reconciliation Week.
Perridak Arts is a proudly First Nations-owned and operated cultural space located on Wadawurrung Country in Ballarat. Dedicated to showcasing the creativity, stories, and cultural knowledge of First Nations artists from Ballarat and surrounding communities, Perridak Arts is an important part of the region’s growing arts and tourism landscape.
Owned and operated by the Ballarat & District Aboriginal Cooperative, it provides a welcoming space where culture, connection, and creativity come together.
Perridak Arts helps support First Nations artists and contributes to the continuation of storytelling, cultural practice, and community connection for future generations.
We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which Perridak Arts stands and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We also acknowledge the wider Aboriginal community of Ballarat and honour their strength, survival, and ongoing connection to culture and Country.

2025 marked 28 years since the Bringing them home report was tabled in Parliament — a powerful truth-telling moment that called for justice.
The Healing Foundation report released earlier this year – Are you waiting for us to die? The unfinished business of Bringing them home – found only 6% of the Bringing them home report recommendations have been clearly implemented
Many of the survivors who shared their stories to the Bringing them home inquiry are no longer with us, because it was a whole generation ago. Those who remain are ageing and still waiting for real action.
This year the message is clear: “We cannot wait another generation” to act on the priority Bringing them home recommendations in 2025.
Be part of this important conversation, led by The Healing Foundation CEO Shannan Dodson. alongside Stolen Generations Survivors Ian Hamm and Yvonne Mills.
